Our lovely, non-profit retirement home needs a $400,000 upgrade for safety and energy efficiency. We have $200,000 toward the project. Any ideas where to get the rest? Thanks in advance for your ideas. They are very helpful!

Help! I need help on bills. I've been disabled for some time now (I had a stroke). I have a couple of bills that have gone into collections, and I was talking to a collector recently who mentioned these resources. If it's possible I would like to get these bills paid off. There are a couple that are $2000 and not being able to work to pay these off has become a problem. I don't make enough with disability to make payment arrangements in order to pay these off. I'm considered permanently disabled. I want to work, but because of the tremor I have in my left hand and very limited use of it, I'm not able.

I had to fight the V A and there system starting in 1994 As I progressed I picked up & learn what steps are needed to apply for Vietnam vets whom have been diagnosed with Agent Orange. It is best that you have a service officer help with the filing of your application they talk of using the proper lanuage. It is tough but if you persist you should be able to get V A benefits. I have extensive nerve damage, I have had about 12 to 14 laser surgeries, and all my meds are provided to me at no charge as I have been rated 100% disabled. I am have weight restrictions placed on me that I can't lift anything over 1 pound. Free glasses, if your a diabetic one free pair of shoes each year. The only thing that they do not provide is false teeth or dental care. It was in 2004 that I finally was able to get the VA benefits. I like a good fight and I try to understand everything before I go into battle. So far there has been about 10 vets that I have been able to steer in the right direction. I tried to get Federal Grant for my teeth since I am veteran I do not qualify. There are other options to persue

in response to shotcaller69...   You aren't going to want to hear this but the truth of the matter is that there are few grant that are for personal uses. You have to get a non profit to help you .and that takes a long time both to write it up and to get it. Aidpage has a sister site that has two programs that help you if you still choose to try first one is foundations; www.grantgate.com and the other you can tell from the title: www.thefederalmoneyretriever.com. Both are free , it helps guide you and tells you what you need to know.

While you are working on your project visit my homepage . I have several pages of information that will be of help to you. then I would advise to visit some of the other Aidmates here on Aidpage and they will do their bst to help you also.

Hello, my name is Andrey, me 42 years. I was born and has grown in Republic Kazakhstan. In 1989 the son married, born. All was good, until the trouble has come. In 1992 was traumatized in a backbone, doctors have told that I will live no more than two weeks, but I have survived. Has transferred some operations. Has received 1st group of physical inability. Below a belt sensitivity is absent. I can move only in an armchair for invalids. After a trauma mum was ill and has soon died, the father has left to other woman. And then and the wife of a visor of the son also has left. Thanks to relatives, remained absolutely without a thing and as remains nothing, at once it became necessary to nobody also the same relatives have thrown out me almost on street. Veins that at acquaintances, in hospital. Now, many years I live in Belarus, in Orsha, in the house - a boarding school (boarding house) for old people and invalids, but it is faster not life, and a survival. Three years I saved pension, thanks to it there was a computer and Internet access to the network. Once, searching for the information necessary to me on the Internet, me will of a happy occurence has translated on a page of acquaintances where has seen perfection, Elena. Having written it the letter, didn't hope for the answer. But on my happiness, the answer has come in three days. And I thank a case and the Lord for that that have acquainted me with the remarkable girl. At Elena too has not developed in home life. But it has a remarkable son, to it of 20 years, call Dmitry and he has apprehended me well.
After a while Elena has arrived to me on a visit, talked much and was found out that at us much the general in interests, very much was pleasant each other. Now, in a current of 5 months almost each days off, it comes to me to the city of Orsha. Comes on Friday evening and in revival leaves in the evening, to have so to arrive, because we don't have other exit, without having personal habitation, we have no place to live in common. Alena with the son lives in Moscow in small apartment with the ex-husband.
I never assumed that to a smog so to fall in love and be favourite that the future I do not represent without this woman. It is necessary to me, as air and life between our meetings seems the present flour, and days when we together, fly by, as one instant.
In your forces to help to make two people happy. Without your help I am doomed to the further torture and suffering. I hope that the Divine help and your desire will help us to collect means for own habitation. For earlier very much to YOU it is grateful.

Seattle, Washington Senior Housing Programs

By friendshelpingfriends - on Dec 7, 2010
Posted in friendshelpingfriends

Seattle Senior Housing Program units are managed by Seattle Housing Authority. They include one- and two-bedroom units in 23 apartment buildings in popular neighborhoods across the city. All of these buildings will be smoke-free by August 1, 2010. (The transition to a smoke-free policy began on March 1, 2010.)

Senior housing buildings feature elevators and comfortable, carpeted apartments. Community rooms encourage residents to engage in social activities and stay active. On any given afternoon, a visitor might find residents playing cards, participating in a quilting club, or enjoying an exercise class.

Households in this program earn 80 percent of area median income or less to qualify, and pay affordable rent at one of four levels, depending on income. The head of household or spouse must also be at least 62 years old or disabled.

Please note that the eligibility requirements and application procedures for the Seattle Senior Housing Program are different from other programs'.

Information on program income limits, how to qualify as a family, and how general suitability, rental history, and criminal history affect eligibility.

Answers to questions about applying to the Seattle Senior Housing Program, rent levels, security deposits, waiting lists, pets, making changes to applications, and more.

A map and list of Seattle Senior Housing Program properties, with information about the types of apartments offered, parking, nearby bus routes, and the surrounding neighborhood.

Applying to this program has four steps: submitting a pre-application, joining the waiting list, submitting a full application, and having your application approved or denied.

Seattle Housing Authority's online pre-application allows you to apply for housing programs with open waiting lists, including the Seattle Senior Housing Program.

I am the President of the "Center For People With Disabilities, Inc.", a small, 501-c-3 not for profit organization now based in Austin, Texas that strives to meet the unmet needs of Americans with disabilities within the six categories that we strive to address. At the moment we don't have any more funds to provide through our scholarship project in our Education Program area to people with disabilities.

Your financial contributions will go such a long way to helping to enable us to continue to bring you new, innovative and pioneering approaches and ideas to help resolve the unmet needs of American's with disabilities in terms of our six primary areas of focus: Space and Technology Transfer, Education, Civil Rights, Religion (access to religious places of worship and Jews with disabilities), Emergency Trauma Care Delivery and Environmental Disabilities. Please join us in our efforts to bring the unrealized dreams of tomorrow into the world of today for so many people with disabilities and the elderly disabled. Thank you.

Maryland Accessible Homes for Seniors (AHS)

By justanoldman - on Jan 4, 2010
Posted in justanoldman

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), in partnership with the Maryland Department of Aging (MDoA), are undertaking a project to promote accessibility related improvements to the homes of seniors. These improvements may include, among others, the installation of grab bars and railings, widening of doorways and installation of ramps. Home improvements such as these represent for many older people the key to remaining in their home and maintaining their independence.

The program provides zero percent interest, deferred loans for a term of 30 years to finance accessibility improvements. The program is funded by DHCD under the Maryland Housing Rehabilitation Program (MHRP) and is administered by Special Loan Programs. The program is marketed through the local Area Agencies on Aging.

Eligible Applicants

Those eligible for the Program must:

  • Be Maryland residents with at least one resident age 55 or older.
  • Generally must own and occupy the home to be renovated as their principal residence. Seniors living with relatives will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • Reside in a home that is structurally sound and free of health and safety hazards.
  • Not have any outstanding federal or state tax liens, open bankruptcy or foreclosure.
  • Meet income requirements.

The household income cannot exceed 80% of the Statewide or Washington DC MSA median. If the senior resides in the home of a relative, eligibility is based on the owner’s income.

INCOME LIMITS FOR 80% OF MEDIAN INCOME
INTEREST RATE RANGE 4.5% - 7.0%
HOUSEHOLD SIZE MAXIMUM INCOME
WASHINGTON, DC PMSA*
MAXIMUM INCOME
REST OF STATE
1 Person $ 57,500 $ 46,000
2 Persons $ 65,750 $ 52,550
3 Persons $ 73,950 $ 59,100
4 Persons $ 82,160 $ 65,680

*INCLUDES CALVERT, CHARLES, FREDERICK, MONTGOMERY AND
PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTIES

Eligible Improvements

Funds may be used to pay for the actual costs of making the house accessible or functional for the resident. This may include but is not limited to: widening doorways, installation of accessible showers, ramps, grab bars, and lever handles. Additions to accommodate first floor bathrooms and laundry rooms will also be considered on a case by case basis.

Loan Amount and Term

The maximum loan amount will be up to 85 percent of the value of the property taking into account any superior mortgages. The loans will be offered for terms of up to 30 years and must be repaid upon sale, transfer or refinance of the property. All closing costs will be included in the loan.
